We have established a charity, ‘Arts for India’ aimed at raising funds to support underprivileged, yet talented artists from India. ‘Arts for India’ has three educational partners – The International Institute of Fine Arts (IIFA), India, the University of Arts London and the Prince’s Drawing School, London. This charity has been approved by the British Government and has been registered in the UK with the charity number 1137824.
‘Arts for India’ was launched at two mega events at the Kensington Palace, London, on the 14th and 19th of October, 2010. ‘Arts for India’ will also be launched in the U.S.A. next year.
One of the objectives of ‘Arts for India’ is to create a scholarship fund to help needy and deserving students to get the opportunity to study at IIFA and make their contribution to the world of art, fashion, film and design. The charity will also provide scholarships to some of these students and assist them to get a postgraduate placement abroad.
Through ‘Arts for India’, we also hope to implement the ‘Adopt an Artist’ programme, where the donor/sponsor would get the opportunity to sponsor one student artist through his/her 4-year degree programme at IIFA. The sponsor will benefit from a personal relationship with the student, and will receive one piece of work at the end of each of the 4 years in return. 100 seats are being provided by IIFA for candidates under this programme.
We are committed to making it possible for young artists to achieve their potential with serious, first rate tuition and mentoring. We want to play our part in equipping India’s deserving artists of the future.
